ITINERARY "Walk & Swim" one day
Arrival in the morning and accomodation in the reserved accomodation.
At the Tourist Center, book a tour of the island by boat for the afternoon (possible with or without driver).
Till the landind in Alicudi, you come into contact with an intact scenery, out of time, dominated by peace and quieteness, if you think that the only means of transportation here are donkeys.
As the shape of an inverted cone, the island is accessible only by feet along the steep mule tracks that run across the country up to the mountain top.
From the port of Scala Palumbo (only built in 1990), it's nice to admire the island center where some of the shops, the post office, the only beach achievable by feet and nothing else ... just agglomerations of inhabited and uninhabited houses scattered around the island.
I suggest a first stop for a swim with snorkeling among the reefs, in the clear sea, before you start the tour along the steep and sunny paths dominated by Mount Wire Harp (Monte Filo dell’Arpa).
Go to westbound, Contrada Tonna, which features a cluster of uninhabited typical Aeolian houses with steps made of dry stone walls for the cultivation of land, and ancient shrines of the Via Crucis reflecting the religiosity of "Arcudari" (Alicudi people).
