ITINERARY "Chocolate & Discovery" 1 day
Arrival at the reserved accommodation (I suggest Palazzo Failla Modica located in one of the prestigious squares) in the morning.
A short walk before dinner will be a prelude to the magnificent tour through the narrow alleys of Ancient Modica, up and down stairs, always accompanied by noble mansions with typical late Baroque balconies and the "100 churches" that distinguish it.
Before going to discover the paths that weave in labyrinthine fashion, going down tortuously towards the quarry bed represented by the main street, Via Umberto I, I suggest a culinary stop at the Inn of the Colonel, in High Modica, near the Church of Santa Teresa , just in front of the hotel that I recommended.
Here, including dishes from simple taste and refined pairs, you can enjoy the typical Sicilian "focaccia" on the house, then a choice of octopus with macco bean, fennel and extra virgin olive oil, Ragusa fondue, octopus with escarole, pine nuts, raisins and panella blown as entrees; among the first ricotta gnocchi and eggplant, potato cream, bacon; among the latter capocollo Sicilian black pig, mashed potatoes and chard. Crispy cigar for dessert, almond cream and green mandarin, Modica chocolate sauce and carob, pastry, vanilla cream, caramelized apples.
